An individual person can neither build a community nor develop a language on his own. It grows step by step and at each & every stage.Many scholars helped this community to grow. The following are some of the leaders who guided and helped in the growth of the Sourashtran Community.

      'Raosaheb' Thiru K.V. Ramachari,B.A.,M.L.C(1861-1926)


Sourashtrans involved in Business. So he created awareness to the Community about the changing trends in Business, the importance of Education and politics. A group of officers created many problems to the Sourashtran Community due to some misunderstandings.He solved the  problems with his authority. He added the name "Sourashtran Brahmana" to the literally backward Community. Director of Public Instruction, Dis.No. 3626 dated 25th June, 1901 has issued the order. He was a great social worker. He became the head of Madurai Municipality in 1910. He was the first person to hold the post of Chairman in the Sourashtran history. He was the member of Council (M.L.C)

      'Tharmeega Saarva Bowma' Rao Bahadur Thiru K.M.S. Lakshmana Iyer(1886-1970)


He was a well known leader of the Tamil Nadu Sourashtran Community people. He was a well known personality in Madurai. He was the leader in many Associations and he gave counselling and guidance to all Community and Business Associations in Madurai. He was the Director of Madurai Harvey Mill since it had been started in 1933 to 1958. He was the "King" of Madurai RamanathapuramChamber of Commerce(1935-1954). He was the Vice-President in the Administrative Commity of Madurai Meenakshi Sunderaswarar temple(1953-1956). He got the title 'Rao Bahadur'in 1945. In 1952, Chennai presidency poet Krishnamoorthy Sastry gave the title 'Tharmeega Saarva Bowma'.

     Thiru P.S.A Krishnaier (1899-1953 )


He was a very well known personality among all the Sourashtra Community in Tamil Nadu. His father Thiru. Pathe Hanumandhaier was a follower of Sri Nayaki Swamy's Keerthana Bhajans. He started working for the welfare of his Community people at the age of 21. He was the member of Sourashtra High School's Administrative Council (1946-1952). He was the Secretary of the Scholarship Commity of the Sourashtra Madya Sabha. He started a new episode in Madurai Sourashtra Sabha. He started to collect the Sourashtra language literary scripts from all the cities to improve the Sourashtran Literary Culture.

     'Rashtra Bandu' Thiru L.K.Thulasi Ram B.A.,B.L.,M.L.A (1870-1952)


He was the second graduate in Chennai Presidency and first in Madurai District. He got fame in Politics,Law,SocialWork,Industry,Education and Religion. He gave training to the Sourashtrans in the politics. Thiru K.V.Ramachari and Thiru L.K.ThulasiRam were two eyes for the Sourashtran Community.
Education and Politics are the two major part in which a Community should improve,so that the Community could develop itself into a Forward Community. He realised this and worked for the improvements in the field of Education. He served as a President in Sourashtra High School. He helped for the Unemployed educated youth to get recruitment. He served as Senate Member of Madras University. He was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and Theerar Satyamoorthy.
He was the President of Madurai Municipality twice (1921-1923,1930)

     'Madurai Gandhi' Thiru N.M.R.Subbaraman(1905-1983)


He was a Congress partyman. He was a strict politician and follower of Gandhian thoughts. He was the President of Madurai Municipality (1935-1942,1937,1940) thrice. He became the Member of TamilNadu Assembly in 1957 and he was the Member of Parliament(1957-1962) and served for the Nation. He worked in a low profile in Gandhigram (Dindigul), Ramakrishna Mission Vidhyalayam(Coimbatore), Gandhi Mandram (Madurai), Kallupatti Gandhi Niketan,Harijana Seva Sangam, Chennai based Educational institutions, All India Gandhi Museum. The leaders Kamarajar & Kakkan got advice and guidance from this great leader.

     Thiru C.S.Ramachary  B.A


He changed the tradition of Sourashtran community of building temples, Poojas and festivals to building Educational institutions and industries. He was the founder of the famous Sitalakshmi Mills. He started Sitalakshmi Charity trust and has done various services in the field of Education, Medicine etc.The various institutions coming under this trust are Sitalakshmi Girls Higher Secondary School,situated at Tirunagar,Sitalakshmi Maternity Hospital,cost-free hospital, Thirumathi C.S.R Visalakshmi Marriage hall. The trust also distributed free books and sarees to the poor.He has done greater contribution in the field of Education by conducting P.U.C course for the first three years by starting Sourashtra College. He guided for successfully running  of the college in adverse condition by collecting funds from outside and also contributing in lakhs from his own pocket. New buildings were built and under his management Sourashtra College flourished.He also gave funds for starting Sourashtra school in Tanjore (Manambuchavadi). Sourashtrans continue to praise him for his various services he has rendered to the community.

     Aathmagnani K.L.N. Janakiram(1913-97)


He was born in famous Mishinu family of Madurai. He spent most of his life time in Haridwar, interested in spiritual activities. He gave away most of his wealth to poor. By seeing this nature Sringeri Jagathguru SriSankaracharya Swamigal gave him the title Aathmagnani. The Janakiram hall in Madurai Sourashtra High School was named after him. He gave Rs.12 lakhs for the betterment of Sourashtra College, working along with the industrialists C.S.Ramachary. Maharishi yogi Sathanandha Bharathi gave him the title "Diyanayogi". He worked for the betterment of Sourashtran Community. He managed the trust under his father's name and also under his own name. He has contributed in terms of money to Mayilai Ramakrishna Math, Vandiyoor Shobha Hospital,Sourashtra Girls Higher Secondary School etc.

     Thiru N.M.R.Krishnamoorthy


He was born in Rayalu family. In 1981, Sourashtra Community Conference was held under his leadership which was supposed to be a great achievement. After 25 yrs he conducted this conference along with 2 ministers of M.G.R's legislature assembly. For collecting funds for Sourashtra College under the leadership fo M.G.R, he arranged for Selvi.Jayalalitha's dance drama. N.M.R.K was talented in many fields. He was a freedom fighter. He was an experienced Rotarian. He has the president and has been the office bearer for various institutions like Geetha Bhavanam, Sourashtra Higher Secondary School, Sourashtra College, Union club etc. He has also been in production of cinema and also  in various other areas in cine field. He has been the driver for Mahatma Gandhi when he came to Madurai. He was familiar with politicians, Social workers and also in public relations. His work was continued by his sons Vijay and Jawaharbabu.
